Apple Kept Top Hardware Exec By Losing Head of iOS [REPORT]

It looks like at least one Apple employee was pretty pleased with the news that Scott Forstall, the powerful head of the company's iOS division, will be leaving the company next year: Bob Mansfield.

Mansfield, Apple's longtime hardware engineering chief who planned to retire earlier this year, apparently has decided to stay on at the company for another two years in part because of the news that Forstall is leaving, according to John Paczkowski at AllThingsD.

“It wasn’t a him-or-me situation,” one anonymous Apple insider told Paczkowski. “But, put it this way, I think Bob was much more willing to commit to two more years once he knew Scott was on his way out.”
