Facebook Pros
Top 10 Things You CAN'T DO on facebook
Facebook is a really cool platform for folks to socialize and share events with their friends. It does a lot of things really well and others, "not so much." In all fairness, from the inception Facebook was designed as an "online frat party" not a business tool. Even the advertising was an afterthought. Here are some very valuable things that all businesses should consider before sending all their traffic to Facebook
- Sell Anything - There's no place for your credit card on Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.
- Host YOUR Own HD Channel - Video is the largest growth area on the net. The big screen experience is less than exciting with that little window on Facebook
- WIDESCREEN - Facebook has that narrow screen layout designed for monitors from 10 years ago. On my big screen, it wastes the whitespace on the side.
- Affiliate Marketing - One of the coolest benefits of social media is the chance for folks to benefit from sharing. Affiliate programs let your fans in on the action.
- Collect Names & EMails for YOUR LIST - Your Newsletter or VidiBLAST (if you have video e-mail) is a valuable tool to communicate with customers
- Allow Content Subscriptions - If you begin to publish your own content, customers can subscribe via RSS or e-Mail
- Sell Your Own Advertising - Oddly enough, any business that sends traffic to Facebook could sit right across from advertising placed by the competition
- Advanced Tracking & Analytics - The name of the game is behavioral targeting. How can you get an edge if you don't know when, where, why or how?
- Damage Control - You have no editorial control on Facebook. When The Star tabloid prints some salacious gossip you still have somone to sue for defamation
- Local & Global Targeted Content - Global translation in 52 different languages. Every city sees a different user experience with local content, users and ads
